Vinca minor – Lesser Periwinkle

Vinca minor, also known as Lesser Periwinkle, is a low-growing, evergreen ground cover that forms a dense, carpet-like foliage. Thanks to its flat growth habit, this plant is ideal for filling open spots in borders or under trees, and it does so in a stylish, low-maintenance way.

From March to June, numerous blue-violet flowers appear among the dark green leaves. This subtle yet charming bloom adds a fresh and natural look to your garden.

Vinca minor easily adapts to a variety of conditions. It grows well in both sun and (partial) shade and requires little from the soil. Ideal for gardens with challenging spots or shady edges.

This plant spreads through underground runners and quickly covers large areas. Weeds hardly stand a chance, and you hardly have to look after it. Occasional pruning in spring keeps it nice and compact and encourages new growth.

Care tips:
Prune in early spring to rejuvenate the plant and optionally provide some organic fertilizer for a fresh start in growth. During dry periods, some extra water is welcome, but generally, Vinca minor is very strong and self-sufficient.
