How do I choose an orchid without a pot for my interior?
Choose by display space, bloom effect and maintenance level. Pick compact plants for shelves or small tables and taller, multi-spike plants as a centerpiece. Consider bloom colour and spike count for the visual effect you want, and whether you plan to use a decorative pot, a transparent orchid pot, or mount the plant — the potless format gives you that freedom.
What should I do immediately after an orchid arrives without a pot?
Inspect the roots and remove clearly dead tissue with clean scissors. Place the plant in a pot with good drainage and an airy orchid bark mix, or mount it on bark/moss if you prefer; do not bury the crown. Support flowering stems with a stake if needed and water gently so the new medium is moist but not waterlogged.
Which light, temperature and humidity suit these orchids best?
They prefer bright, indirect light (an east or lightly shaded west window is ideal) and stable indoor temperatures: about 18–24°C by day and a few degrees cooler at night. Humidity around 50–70% helps flowers and roots; avoid direct midday sun, cold drafts and hot drying vents. A slight night drop in temperature often helps buds set.
How do I care for flowering and encourage re‑blooming?
After flowering, prune the spike according to its condition (cut above a node to encourage a side shoot or remove the spike at the base if it is brown). Feed with a balanced orchid fertiliser at reduced strength during growth, repot every 1–2 years when the medium breaks down, and let the medium dry slightly between waterings. Common mistakes to avoid: keeping the roots waterlogged, placing the plant in too little light, and over-fertilising.
