Location & growth
This plant thrives in a sunny to partially shaded spot. It has few requirements for the soil, as long as it is well-draining and lightly moist. Lighter clay soil is also perfectly suitable.

Maintenance and care
The red knotweed requires little maintenance. In early spring, you can add some organic fertilizer for a healthy start. During dry periods in the summer, extra water is desired. A layer of mulch in the spring helps retain moisture and encourages strong root growth.
