Lonicera pileata, also known as Honeysuckle, is a low-growing, evergreen shrub that is very suitable as a ground cover or low hedge in the garden. This plant belongs to the honeysuckle family, but does not grow climbing like some relatives. Instead, it forms a dense, creeping shrub with a broad, spreading character.

The small, glossy dark green leaves are oval in shape and are closely spaced, giving a compact and tidy appearance. In spring, inconspicuous white flowers appear, followed by purple berries in the autumn. These berries are attractive to birds.

Lonicera pileata is very low maintenance and quickly forms a closed plant carpet, ideal for suppressing weeds. Due to its compact growth habit, it is also extremely suitable for smaller gardens, borders, and edges. This strong plant also thrives excellently on slopes or under trees.
